To celebrate today, we’re sharing a look at some of the things we’ve been working on so far. Students have created AVID Success Plans, built relationships, planned fundraisers and advertisements, and started thinking about their college and career goals.
We’ve also had the opportunity to learn from some wonderful college and career professionals, including Mrs. Barrett, our APHS College & Career Coordinator, Eddie Ganzy from the University of Central Florida, and Southeastern University recruiter Jamison Lee.
This week, students also completed our “Filling My Jar” project, reflecting on the people, experiences, goals, and little things that bring them joy and keep them motivated.
We’re excited for all that’s ahead this year!

This is for seniors who did NOT take a picture on Friday Sep. 4th or if you really did not like your picture, please understand if you retake it your old picture will be replaced with the new one, you do not get to choose between the two. So make sure you think about it before you sign up for retakes.
If you are going to come to the retake day please email Mrs. Borden @ bordent@highlands.k12.fl.us so she can schedule you a time, they will only be here until 11am.

It's Possible to Finish College Faster.
When Dual Enrollment students take college-level classes, they earn credits that apply to both their high school and college graduation requirements.

Dual Enrollment students can earn an associate degree, college credit certificate, or career certificate in a vocational program.

School pictures for underclassmen are ready for your viewing!
Your child’s school pictures are now available! To view them online, please log in to your account at mylifetouch.com. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one using your email address. You’ll need your student’s ID number or their portrait id and access code to locate their photos.

Seniors (and Parents of Seniors)! Your picture day is Friday, September 4.
If you are a dual enrollment student, see google classroom for a sign up sheet starting Thursday to schedule your time.
All other students who have an English class on APHS campus will take their picture with during their English class time
You supply you and we will supply the tux or drape--just make sure you are there.
We know this is short notice, but tomorrow is Picture Day for Underclassmen!
If you are an underclassman that is dual enrollment to plan on coming to the school between 8:30-1 for your underclassman picture.
